AirAsia announced today the celebration party of their first flight’s arrival to the United States.  They decided to kick off the festivities by pulling out knives and shanking any non-Oakland Raiders fans in the area. Oh wait, no, that’s not it.  They decided to celebrate by partnering with the Oakland Raiders and landing a Raiders branded/themed A340 aircraft.

I don’t know about you, but I have no desire to fly into Oakland on a Raiders airplane.  In fact, that idea kinda scares me a little.  According to their press release:

When did anyone from Kuala Lumpur become Raiders fans and will they help the natives knive  SD Chargers Fans?  I know that after a 15 hour flight, I long to stab someone with a knife, but hey, maybe that’s just me.

Apparently the plane is named “‘Xcellence’, to match the Oakland Raiders’ motto ‘Commitment to Excellence’” and AirAsia partnered with the Raiders “to expand the Raider’s fan base in Asia and to promote the AirAsia brand in the United States, creating excitement for future entry into the US market.”  Great, that’s exactly what we need.  Raiders’ fans in Asia.

Hey AirAsia, if you wanted to make an entry into the US Market, maybe you shouldn’t have picked a team that is notorious for its very scary fans.  Very, very scary fans.  How about the 49ers, or the Chargers, or, hell, anyone else.  I get it, you want to fly into Oakland.  Why not partner with the Oakland A’s?  Oh well.

All in all, AirAsia is making strides in the Asian marketplace and Europe.  I’m excited that they are coming to the States, specifically the West Coast, but the RAIDERS?!  Come on, couldn’t you have partnered with something that we care about?  In fact, I’m a little scared to go to your landing party, I’d like to keep my liver in one piece.

I’m dumbfounded.  I’m all for UFO survivors and close encounter enthusiasts, but are you sure you want this lady right next to the prime minster, who himself had recently received the nickname ‘Alien’ due to his generally freaky eyes:

I bet his wife woke up in the middle of the night, looked at her husband and though he was going to take her to Venus.  Do you see those eyes?  Come on man!

When she awoke, Japan’s next first lady wrote, she told her now ex-husband that she had just been to Venus. He advised her that it was probably just a dream.

“My current husband has a different way of thinking,” she wrote. “He would surely say ‘Oh, that’s great’.”

This marks the first time in 54 years, 54 YEARS!, that the Liberal Dems. will not rule the Diet.  Craziness.  Guess voting does make a difference in Japan.  Glad to see change, whether or not it’s a good thing, we’re all glad to see someone making a difference.

Talk about your epic weddings.  This takes otaku to a whole new level.  Wish I was around the statue to see this priceless gem go down.  Dude really wore that to his own wedding.  Cohones the size of bowling balls that one.  I wonder what he wife was really thinking – “Oh that Yasuo, maybe one day he will grow up…”

The craziest thing – 548 couples wanted to be them.  Wow.

**9/3/09 – I just found out an interesting fact that was not mentioned in the Mainichi Daily story.  It turns out that both the husband and wife are super otaku (geeky) for Gundam and that they both separately and secretly applied to win the chance to be married in front of the gigantic statue.  The wedding turned out to be their secret gift for eachother.  Whoever planned the event chose the couple because they had tried to surpriseeachother with the same idea/gift. *side note – This was both the man’s and woman’s 2nd marriage and both bring kids to their new family.

This brings up a good question.  Due to its romanticism, does this rise above normal otaku levels or are they just geeks?

I didn’t know my last name changed to Blogger!  That’s amazing.  Here I was thinking my name was Evan Kennedy, but all along it was Evan Kennedy Blogger, how stupid of me.  Now I need to go get my passport changed.  If you’re going to be sending out mass emails, then at least get your spreadsheet in order.  Also, this is the 2nd email you sent off.  So, apologize for the first blast with the misspelling of Yuan all you like, but its still idiotic to call me Mr. Evan Kennedy Blogger.  Did you also write Ms. Jane Jones Newspaper?  When you send out a 2nd blast for some reason, make sure you get all the mistakes.  Oh, you also misspelled ‘responsiblity’ – you’re missing an i.  It’s your responsibIlity to make sure these things are correct.

And another thing, why do I care about this guy?  I write about Travel and Technology.  That’s what I’m listed under in Vocus, your PR database.  What the hell do I care about China’s monetary system?  I like writing about Giant Robots.  Did you even read my blog?  Hell, did you even click the link to my blog and take a look around?  Of course not, you just pulled my name, put it in a list and then sent it.  Bad PR flack, bad!  Please, next time you decide to send me something, find out if I care about what your sending me.  Check out my blog and maybe add some personal touches to your email to engage me.  That’s what I always did when I was a flack.
